DSP-06 SandQ Particle Monitor - Subsea

The ClampOn Subsea SandQ/Particle Monitor incorporates a new filtering technique that makes the sand detector an extremely useful tool for analyzing the nature of sand production, helping to control it and finally, increasing the economical output from the well! This filtering technique is the result of integrating our experience of thousands of wells, analyzing data, and using the results to enhance the technology used in our Subsea SandQ Monitor.

The enormous capacity of the DSP sensor (the only one on the market) makes it possible to scan through a frequency range of 1 MHz 128 times per second. This shows the capacity of our technology and of the filtering technique that is at the core of acquiring and processing sand data.

CEM - Subsea

ClampOn - Norway

The ClampOn Subsea CEM measures and monitors wall thickness loss in pipes, vessels or other metal structures. The instrument uses Acoustic Guided Lamb Waves (AGLW), with the result output of the average wall thickness reading for a large section of pipe. Transducer pairs operate in a pitch-catch mode and use the ultrasonic waves to give the average wall thickness between the transducer pairs. The transducers are fixed at pre-determined points on the pipe to monitor the wall thickness loss in sections of the pipe up to two meters long.

The subsea CEM can utilize up to 32 transducers, increasing distance to a maximum of 8 meters. Wall thickness trends are generated automatically and can be observed in real-time on a computer running ClampOn CEM software, or logged internally in a data logger.

WTM

ClampOn’s Subsea (Max Operational Depth 2700m) WTM is a flexible tool designed for temporary installation and inspection at multiple locations. The instrument measures pipe wall thickness using the travel time of ultrasonic pulses. It is equipped with a piezo-electric element to provide precise wall thickness measurements in multi echo mode. The WTM is non-intrusive and can take measurements on coated pipes.

Data is stored in flash memory for fast and simple download and data analysis once retrieved, or be available as real-time measurement through an optional subsea cable-to-surface capability.

The theory is that a leak creates a very high-frequency noise that can be monitored by an ultrasonic sensor. In a «non-leak» situation the ultrasonic pattern will be constant, but when a leak occurs the signature will change dramatically. ClampOn’s DSP technology distinguishes and filters background noise unrelated to leakages so that the hiss from the leaks can warn the operator.

The ClampOn DSP Leak Monitor tsubsea version is designed to be installed at critical points such as valves, flanges, joints, etc., and can monitor very small leakages. A pressure differential of as little as 1 bar can be monitored in gases, and 3 bar in liquids.

ClampOn PIG detection systems perform this operation in a simple way as they only monitor the PIG from the outside of the pipe. The sensor is simply clamped onto the pipe, and there's no any need then for welding or drilling during installation. The sensor is capable of detecting all types of PIGs.

The ClampOn DSP PIG Detector is a more compact and user-friendly unit than other instruments on the market. 

DSP involves complete digitalization of the system and the elimination of analogue filters. ClampOn is the only manufacturer of PIG detection systems to use DSP, which enables the sensor to operate in several frequency ranges simultaneously, eliminating the danger of the detector being triggered by noise sources other than PIGs.

3D Vibration Monitor - Subsea

The ClampOn Subsea 3D Vibration Monitor is a non-intrusive vibration and noise monitoring system. The system allows monitoring of vibration and acoustic noise signatures across an unusually wide range of frequencies, spanning from 0Hz to 262 144 Hz, depending on the application. Typical applications include condition monitoring, verification of operating conditions (e.g. for flapper valves), and evaluation of the structural health of pipes and supporting structures.

DSP-06 Particle Monitor - Topside

The ClampOn DSP-06 Particle Monitor is based on the ClampOn “Ultrasonic Intelligent Sensor” technology. The sensor is usually mounted in/immediately after a 90 degree bend, where the particles/solids impact the inside of the pipe wall, creating thus ultrasound. The ultrasonic signal is transmitted through the pipe wall and picked up by the acoustic sensor.

In the patented intelligent ClampOn sensor, the signal is processed internally by a DSP engine and filtered before being sent onwards to the computer or the control system (no Calculating Interface Unit required).

The unique, patented ClampOn SandQ® sensor provides operators focusing on sand management passive ultrasonic technology; it detects the ultrasonic signal that is generated by particles colliding on the inside of the pipe wall, right after the curve where the sensor is located. The instrument has onboard Digital Signal Processing (DSP) for analyzing of the data picked up by the instrument. Measurement is done in real time and results are continuously displayed on the control PC/system, giving the operator immediate and reliable data when a well starts producing sand.

The working principle of the ClampOn CEM (Corrosion Erosion Monitor) is based on transmitting ultrasonic signals that propagate through the pipe-wall. The dispersive characteristics of a group of guided acoustic waves, called Lamb modes, are exploited to indicate a mean change in wall thickness relative to reference values acquired during the installation of the CEM system.

The permanently installed CEM system ensures that measurements are repeated frequently and in exactly the same manner, thereby eliminating the weaknesses of manual ultrasonic thickness gauging. Wall thickness trends are generated automatically and can be observed in real time.

The Corrosion Barrier Rings (CBR’s) are offered in two different oil resistant elastomers. The PC-CBR (nitrile rubber) is recommended for typical produced oilfield fluid applications. However, if concentrations of CO2 are significant, the HP-CBR (modified nitrile polymer) should be used. The HP-CBR is a higher strength material and is more tolerant to blistering and explosive decompression associated with elastomers in CO2 service.

Pikotek® PGE™

The Pikotek® PGE™ is a low-pressure service isolation kit designed for electrical flange isolation and/or general sealing applications
The PGE™ was designed to give operators an alternative to the failure prone phenolic-based isolating gaskets. The unique design of the PGE™ system incorporates patented overlapping and offsetting seal grooves. The purpose of this design is to break each layer of laminate within the gasket itself, thereby creating a barrier through which fluid and/or gas cannot migrate. The sealing element can be any elastomeric material, as well as more sophisticated spring-energized PTFE lip seals. As a result of this advanced seal design, maintenance-free flange isolation and flange face corrosion mitigation are achieved economically. Depending upon the sealing element selected, the PGE™ is rated for most hydrocarbon and water service applications.

This gasket is suitable for use in raised-face and flat-face flanges in ANSI Class 150 & 300 service (or equivalent). In addition to providing electrical isolation, the gasket is excellent for isolating flanges made of dissimilar metals or where prevention of flange face corrosion is desired.

LineBacker® sealing gaskets use a rectangular sealing element, referred to as a "quad" ring, in combination with a unique groove design to effectively seal and isolate flanges of all types. Its unique quad ring design is providing elastic memory for elastomers not normally associated with this characteristic.
Materials such as PTFE, used as sealing elements, may dramatically increase the ability to match gasket materials to service conditions. This greater variety of materials also provides excellent temperature and chemical range compatibility. LineBacker® sealing gaskets are self-energizing with theoretical near-zero "m" and "y" factors resulting in a positive seal without excessive bolt loads - as are often required with flat gaskets.

It can be used at all pressures up through ANSI 2500# and API 10,000#. VCS™ gasket is precisely sized to the bore to protect flange faces and prevents turbulent flow at flanged connections to mitigate media-induced corrosion and flow-induced erosion. The VCS-ID (Inside Diameter) Seal introduces an internal, machined PTFE seal at the bore of the existing VCS design platform. The thinner, 1/8” (3mm) design minimizes the difficulties often encountered while attempting to install thicker isolating gaskets. The Downhole Coupon Holder Assembly (DCHA™) was developed to test the effects of different types of corrosion on downhole tubing, including general corrosion, crevice corrosion, stress corrosion, and pitting in downhole conditions. The DCHA™ holds up to nine coupon holders, including Bent Beam, Strip, and Cylindrical. The DCHA™ is normally used conjunction with the DCMS™ Downhole Tool, but may also be installed separately.

The DCHA™ can also be used in conjunction with Cosasco's Downhole electrical resistance probe (DCHA™). Coupon metal loss data from the DCHA™ samples can be correlated with ER probe metal loss and temperature data from the DCHA™ to analyze the condition of the downhole tubing.

DCMS™ (Downhole Corrosion Monitoring System); The newly re‐designed DCMS Downhole Corrosion Monitoring System, based on ER Technology, provides continuous corrosion history of downhole tubing. The DCMS™ tool is another RCS innovation, and the only tool available which provides recorded corrosion and temperature data for the hostile conditions of downhole operation.

The DCMS™ tool may be attached to a variety of wireline approved running tools for insertion into the production well at the start of testing and retrieval from the well at the end of the testing period. The DCMS™ tool can be set at any required depth — wherever the most critical corrosion regions are located. Several DCMS™ tools may be run simultaneously in a well, in order to obtain corrosion data for the different depths, while under the same operating conditions.
